Margaret Bell was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She started singing Gospel in her fatherʼs church at age 5. She started recording, professionally at age 16 on her sisterʼs (Vanessa Bell Armstrong) Gospel CD. Margaret received a vocal scholarship to attend Oral Roberts University, where she sang on their national daily telecast. After the University, she went on to become a principal cast member on Broadway in the musical “Donʼt Get God Started”. From there, she appeared in various stage productions throughout the country.
Margaret recorded her first solo CD, “Over and Over”, on Warner Brothers Records and went on to tour and perform all over the United States and abroad. Margaret has performed for and with many renowned celebrities such as, Barbra Streisand, Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole, Stevie Wonder, Carly Simon and Michael Jackson, to name a few. She has also sang and appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show. After her appearance on the show, she was then asked to perform for Oprahʼs 50th Birthday celebration. She also performed for John Travoltaʼs 50th birthday celebration in Cabo San Lucas.
Her smooth versatile vocal abilities have provided her opportunities to showcase her talent at many different venues around the world. Margaret has performed, as well, for various Presidents and Kings, including President Clinton, President Bush and President Obama. In 2009, Margaretʼs reputation and mass appeal reached the General manager of the famous Hotel LaMamounia, in Marrakech, Morocco, where Margaret was offered a contract to sing in the Churchill’s bar inside the Palace hotel. While in Morocco, she has performed for King Mohammed VI and the Royal family. By popular demand, her contract was extended for a total of 16 additional months ending in 2011.
She has expanded her repertoire to Jazz and is now traveling and performing as a Jazz artist. She was a featured guest on the Dav Koz 2012 summer tour, and is currently traveling and appearing in Jazz and Pop festivals all over the world. Bell has released a holiday single titled “Christmas With You” available on iTunes, Google Play,and Amazon mp3 and is in the studio recording her upcoming Jazz CD scheduled for release in August.
